We are a unique day care center that specializes in minimally invasive same day and short stay surgeries.

This incorporates various surgical procedures related to the gallbladder, various hernias (repair) and the lower gastrointestinal tract.

We also provide our patients with comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and follow up care.

Laparascopy & Endoscopy

This incorporates surgical diagnostic procedures used to examine organs inside the abdomen. It’s a low-risk, minimally invasive procedure that requires only small incisions.

Prostrate Surgery & Biopsy

Surgery for partial or complete removal of the prostate is called prostatectomy. The most common cases for prostate surgery are prostate cancer and an enlarged prostate or benign prostatic paraplaysia.

Bladder Tumor Resection

A transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) or a transurethral resection (TUR) is often used to find out if someone has bladder cancer and, if so, whether the cancer has spread into (invaded) the muscle layer of the bladder wall.

Cholecystectomy

This is a surgical procedure to remove your gallbladder — a pear-shaped organ that sits just below your liver on the upper right side of your abdomen. Your gallbladder collects and stores bile — a digestive fluid produced in your liver.

The surgery carries only a small risk of complications. In most cases, you can go home the same day of your cholecystectomy.

Hernia Repair

A hernia occurs when an organ or internal tissue breaks through a hole in the muscles. Hernia repair surgery or herniorrhaphy involves returning the displaced tissues to their proper position.

Ureteroscopy & Lithotripsy

Ureteroscopy is a procedure to address kidney stones, and involves the passage of a small telescope, called a ureteroscope, through the urethra and bladder and up the ureter to the point where the stone is located.

The focus of the clinic is to ensure patients are safely and well-prepared for their upcoming operation and that the day of the surgery runs smoothly.

The Pre-Surgical Screening Unit staff prepares you for surgery by:

  • Assessing your medical fitness for surgery and anesthesia before your operation and arranging tests and consults if needed. Any tests and/or assessments ordered by your surgeon must be completed before your surgery. This allows time for your surgeon to review results and prevent last-minute delays or cancellations
  • Providing you with important before-and-after surgery instructions
  • Answering your questions

Once patients have been prepared for surgery, they are transported to the Operating Room where their procedure is performed.

You will be greeted by an interdisciplinary team. You may meet Attendants, Registered Nurses (RN), Registered Practical Nurses (RPN), Respiratory Therapist (RT), Surgeons, Anesthetists and students.

The entire team works together to provide our patients with a positive, supportive surgical experience.
